Significant Progress is Being Made in the Luiseno K-8 School Conversion Project

LAKE ELSINORE – The Lake Elsinore Unified School District is converting Luiseno Elementary School into a K-8 school to accommodate the District’s increasing enrollment.

To handle the additional students and staff, the District contracted with Erickson-Hall to build three new buildings on the existing campus site, relocate portable classrooms, as well as make numerous site improvements.

Erickson-Hall Construction CO. (EHCC) was selected to make this conversion possible by utilizing the Lease-Leaseback delivery method. The project involves remodeling and upgrading the existing facility by expanding the library area and installing a new roof, new construction of three buildings, two of which are two-story classroom buildings.

One building houses a science lab, technology center, and a dedicated art classroom, and the other building will have eight classrooms. The buildings are connected by a second story walkway system with an elevator for ADA access. The third building will be a multi-purpose facility with a basketball court, stage and music room, locker room, and a full service kitchen for school use.

In addition, EHCC is relocating portables, adding outside court areas, and a new sports field, parking expansion, and additional landscaping. The project’s progression is ahead of schedule with final completion slated for August 2012.
