Erickson-Hall Construction Co. has completed reconstruction and modernization work at Mission Elementary School in the Oceanside Unified School District.
The $12.74 million project involved construction of a new student services building and two kindergarten classroom buildings, which totaled 8,937 square feet.
Each classroom was furnished with a new teaching wall featuring three whiteboards, a projector and projection screen to allow for interactive teaching technology in the classroom.
The project also modernized 31,745 square feet in nine classroom buildings and a multipurpose, food service building.
The renovated multipurpose building features LED integrated lighting that can be tailored to enhance the theme of presentations or shows being staged.
Installation of three new modular classroom buildings totaling 2,800 square feet were also part of this project.
Site development work encompassed 5.1 acres and included a new bus drop-off area, a kindergarten playground and a separate elementary playground.
This lease-leaseback project delivery was designed by Groth Architects.
Erickson-Hall’s project team included Nathan Complin, construction manager; Joe Weigel, project manager; Judy Shade, project engineer; Steve Fleming, superintendent; Leah Stone, project coordinator; and Daniel Rodriguez, intern.
Erickson-Hall’s scope of work included installation of new playground equipment with Tot Turf safety surfacing for the kindergarten and lower playgrounds. Tot Turf is a bonded, poured-in-place surface consisting of 100 percent shredded tire material mixed with a polyurethane binder with an impact-attenuating cushion layer.
