Construction Projects Chosen To Receive An Award Of Excellence

The Associated Builders and Contractors have announced the recipients of the annual San Diego Chapter Excellence in Construction Awards competition.

The 10 recipients range from commercial to healthcare to industrial to specialty construction projects.General contractors and specialty contractors entered their projects.

Ten projects will be awarded the chapter’s highest award, the Award of Excellence. These projects are now eligible to apply for the National ABC Excellence in Construction awards. They are:
Casper Company for the Summit Rancho Bernardo, Sony Manufacturing Plant demo;
Echo Pacific for the Poway High School modernization, 1A, 1B and 1C;
Erickson-Hall for the Children’s Museum/Museo de los Ninos;
Helix Electric for Smart Corner;
I.E.-Pacific Inc. for the Consolidated Operations Center at MCAS, Camp Pendleton;
Reno Contracting Inc. for Santa Fe Summit;
Reno Contracting Inc. for the Diamond View Tower;
Stronghold Engineering Inc. for the Naval Coastal Warfare Group 1 facilities, Phase 1, NOLF, in Imperial Beach;
Western Summit Constructors for the Mountain House Water treatment Plant;
Xnergy for the Abbot Vascular Murrieta Site Expansion Project.

Six projects will receive an Award of Merit. They are:
California Comfort Systems USA Inc. for Abbott Vascular;
California Comfort Systems USA Inc. for the Qualcomm Building N.;
Industrial Commercial Systems for Intuit SD Campus tenant improvement;
Ledcor Builders Inc. for ICON;
Stronghold Engineering Inc. for Design Build Casualty Care Center at Balboa Naval Medical Center;
Stronghold Engineering Inc. for Switchgear Upgrades for USPS at the Midway Processing District facility;

Seven projects were chosen to receive an Award of Honor. They are:
Bergelectric Corp. for the Francis Parker School;
Davis & Adams Const Inc. for Bio Lab;
Good & Roberts Inc. for Motorola San Diego Tenant Improvement;
Good & Roberts Inc. for General Atomics Bldg. 86;
Ledcor Petty Construction for Bressi Ranch - Lot 16;
Pacific Building Group for Mission Internal Medical Group;
Pacific Building Group for the Mission Medical Center.

Twenty-three projects were reviewed by a panel including Ron Smith, owner of Interpipe Contracting; David Allsbrook, VP of contracting and public works for Centre City Development Corp.; Robert Mhyre, vice president of Straub Construction and Joe Guerin, editor of The Daily Transcript,

Winners of the competition will be formally recognized at the ABC Awards of Excellence celebration on Feb. 7. The event will take place at On Broadway in the San Diego Gaslamp District.
